This is an ordinance amending Chapter 16 of the City of Boston Code to prohibit the sale and use of synthetic mitragynine, 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH), and other dangerous chemical compounds. T
The American Kratom Association supports this hearing and urges Boston-area advocates to attend and testify. This ordinance takes aim at exactly the right target: chemically manipulated 7-OH products that are falsely marketed as kratom. These are not natural kratom leaf — they are lab-altered compounds with none of the safety profile of the botanical product that millions of Americans use responsibly.
How to Attend and Testify
Testify in person: Arrive at the Iannella Chamber at least five minutes before the 2:00 PM call of the hearing to sign up. If you plan to present written documentation, bring fifteen (15) copies for the Councilors.

Keep testimony short (2–3 minutes), personal, and focused:
You support Docket #1414 because it targets chemically manipulated 7-OH products — not safe, natural kratom leaf.
Share your own experience as a responsible kratom consumer, if applicable.
Urge the Council to pair enforcement against manipulated products with science-based consumer protections for natural leaf — age restrictions, accurate labeling, contaminant testing, and good manufacturing practices, as embodied in the Kratom Consumer Protection Act.
