September 2026 Update: Help in Detroit

Attention Michigan Advocate: The threat to natural kratom in Michigan just reached Detroit City Hall. Council Member Angela Whitfield-Calloway has submitted a memorandum asking the Detroit City Council to adopt a resolution in support of House Bill 5537 — legislation that would ban the sale and use of kratom across Michigan. This is an initial referral, and it does not enact a ban in Detroit. But make no mistake: it is designed to put Michigan's largest city on record in favor of statewide prohibition.
